Robert Rainford

King of Grill himself, Rob Rainford of Asian Food Channel’s License to Grill gives us the inside scoop during his visit to Malaysia recently.

"I know it’s going to sound odd when I say this, but grilling chose me! When I was in the hotel and restaurant line, I worked a lot around grills and barbeques. From there on, I found myself pretty much drawn into the art of grilling."

Why grilling?
I love to barbeque because of the many unique combinations you can come up with! A dish can vary based on the type of ingredient and sauce you use.

Can a person with little experience in cooking become a whizz in the kitchen?
Practice, practice, practice and more practice. Anyone can cook! You just need to be adventurous and creative with your ingredients.

Finding your inner grill…
Take grilling for instance. There are many things you can do with the grill using different meat cuts or vegetables. For example, you can either wrap a potato and throw it on a grill or parboil it and grill it afterwards.

A piece of advice…
My advice is to just go for it. Who knows? You might create a whole new dish altogether. And that my friends, is the joy of cooking!
