10 Minutes with Robert Rainford
If you have been following Asian Food Channel’s License to Grill, then you would already know that Rob Rainford loves to barbeque. It would come as no surprise that on most Saturdays, the bubby chef can be found in his backyard grilling or smoking something on the barbeque. His interest in food began with his mother and grandmother who were both amazing cooks – those two special women in his life made sure that meal time was family time and they were the ones who instilled in him a love for the grill!

GREEN IS FUN
Can you have fun and be environment-friendly? Yes, and here’s how. Go with a green theme for your next dinner party.

Invitations – In this age of the social media such as Facebook, consider going informal. Invite guests via electronic invitation instead of printed cards.

Green food – Choose local, seasonal food with a vegetarian emphasis. Go with bean dips and wholegrain dishes with fresh fruits and vegetables. If serving meats, choose organic, grass-fed beef and free range, organic poultry.

Beverages – Forget bottled or canned drinks. Serve refreshing smoothies made from fresh fruits in reusable cups and mugs.

Decorations – Get creative with your decorations! Seasonal fruits and vegetables will make lovely centre-pieces and decorations. Try placing wheatgrass in a pot on your table surface for an all natural touch.

Compost – Don’t toss the leftovers! If your menu is vegetarian, leftovers can be composted. Ask your guests to put their veggie and fruit scraps into a designated bin.
