Tips to make you the hostess with the mostest!
BUSINESS LUNCH ETIQUETTE
Business lunches are a very different affair
from dining with family or friends. The most
insignificant gesture can make an impression
on your business associates. Whether it’s
a good or bad impression depends on the
gestures used throughout the meal.
• Arrival The host should always arrive at the
restaurant at least 10 minutes early in case any of
the guests decides to arrive early.
• Greeting Be sure to greet them with a friendly
business handshake that is firm but not crushing.
• Ordering Never order for your associates.
If they’re indecisive, recommend something
you’ve tried before or get recommendations
from the waiter.
• Conversation Sit up straight and pay
attention, making eye contact. Don't be distracted
by your phone as your associates may feel you find
them boring and not worth paying attention to.
• Dining Take modest portions; don’t heap
your plate. Don't eat too fast or slow; stay in step
with the others.
• Handling the bill The host always pays. If
an associate invites you in the interest of giving
you their business, offer to pay at least.
