When 1.1billion people in the world are without access to
drinkable water, it’s a sin to be spending nearly 200 liters of
water on a five-minute shower or over 20 liters to flush a toilet!
Here are ways you can cut back on your water
consumption.
• Instead of hosing down your driveway or balcony, use a
broom or blower. Monthly savings: 2,200 liters.
• Water your garden between 9pm and 9am to avoid
moisture evaporation. Monthly savings: 1,100 liters.
• Wash your car on the lawn so you water the grass
simultaneously. Monthly savings: 180 liters.
• Reuse the water used to wash rice and organic fruits
and vegetables to water the garden; it is enriched with
minerals. Monthly savings: 1,100 liters.
• Use only one cup/bottle for the whole day to minimize repeated washing up. Monthly savings: 110 liters.
